SUPREME has replaced Rose Supreme largely because it is an early
variety, flowering 1 week earlier than most and 2 weeks earlier than
Rose Supremeand because flowers are smaller than Rose Supreme (but
large). Less bench space is needed compared to Rose Supreme and the
plant is shorter and does not require as much B-Nine. Color is
also more intense.
Merritt Supreme tends to dark rose color. It makes a very dark blue. Intermediate colors may be unattractive. Merritt Supreme is the most popular variety. It usually does not require more than one application of B-Nine at 2500 ppm during forcing. Forcing time is 70 to 80 days MERRITT SUPREME LEFT, FIRELIGHT RIGHT
